The Long Beach July Calendar Most Residents Underuse

The Long Beach July Calendar Most Residents Underuse

  • July 9, 2026

Ask a friend from Manhattan what Long Beach is and you'll get the same answer you've been hearing since Sandy: the beach, the boardwalk, the 50-minute train. That answer is not wrong. It is just the answer of someone who has been here twice. The version that matters if you actually own a house between the bay and the Atlantic is denser, more scheduled, and, in 2026, more deliberately built out than any recent summer.

The thesis of this post is simple. Long Beach has quietly stopped treating summer as a season and started treating it as a program. Two concerts a week instead of one. A dozen accessible beach entries instead of a handful. A Junior Lifeguards roster that now starts at nine. Art on the ticket booths. If you live here, the useful move in July is not driving somewhere else on a Saturday. It is reading the calendar closely enough to catch the three or four things happening within a ten-minute walk of your front door.

The stretch from July 2 through July 18

This is the tightest run of programming the city puts on all year. Every date below is on the 2.1-mile boardwalk or the beaches it fronts.

  • Thursday, July 2, Grand Boulevard Beach, 7 p.m.
